Gaillac Méthode Traditionnelle Brut £10.95
Very refreshing and crisp from an area which claims to have passed its skills on to the Champagne region. As you would expect from an ‘assemblage’ of Mauzac and Len de L’El (Loin de l’Oeil - the ‘eyes’ or buds of the shoots are far apart) the sec is full of tangy (but not acid) fruit, but smooth, clean and full at the same time. The zesty citrus and apple leave a very pleasant aftertaste. Very easy to drink.
‘wonderfully zingy flavour of apples and citrus fruits, with plenty of long-lasting bubbles…..fabulous value’ (Simon Hoggart - ‘The Spectator’)
‘the vivid essential greenness that marks the Bramley’s appeal….dabbed with kitchen spice……wonderful’ (Oz Clarke’s Wine Buying Guide))
