Gaillac Rouge, Réserve 2008 £12.65

Yet another great Gaillac Réserve from the Rouquiés. This 'cuvée' just gets better and better every year!
From old vines of Merlot and the local Braucol (aka Fer Servadou). Like a quality St Emilion or Pomerol at two thirds (half?) of the price.
Deep bluey red. Not as full as the 2007 but similar on the nose in being smokey and spicey. The Braucol is more to the front than the 2007: ripe and caramelised blackcurrant, raspberry, cherry and red peppers even ! The tannin is beautifully balanced. Drink now until 2019.

Product Reviews

  1. Great wine

A lovely Gaillac, full of flavour, but soft and easy drinking.
One of those tastes that you don't find very often in the UK, so a great find on here!
