Savagnin 2010 £16.95
This starts off exactly the same way as the Vin Jaune above but is only allowed to oxidise for 3 years. Clean, crisp and slightly woody with a little butteriness. If you are unsure about going the whole hog with Vin Jaune why not start here or try the blend with Chardonnay.
Exceptional, unique wine

What do you drink with a charcoal grilled whole bass marinated in olive oil, garlic and oregano, accompanied by a Greek salad with feta, red onion and vinegar (i.e. flavours no ordinary white wine will survive?) This is the one. Sherry as wine... only much better than this description sounds, more rounded, smoother and more refined, with a finish that goes on and on.... A truly extraordinary find, which also accompanies Coq au Riesling and other powerfully flavourful dishes that you still want a white with. Long may Confit Direct stock it!

Jura is a region that I have learned to love as I've gained a good handle on the wines and style. Before I gained an appreciation for the region, it was a difficult wine to enjoy. All in all, I think Jura is a realm of overachieving wines at very good prices but production is fairly limited, no? Also the need to hand sell and educate buyers is much higher. All is all, that means more Bourdy, Overnoy and Tissot for us!
